EDISU Piemonte is the regional right-to-study agency. It is the largest source of money available to you in Turin, and international students are fully eligible — yet many never apply, because nobody tells them the paperwork starts months before the deadline.

Applications opened on 22 July 2026 and close at midday on 4 September 2026, through edisu.piemonte.it. This is a hard cut-off. Missing it costs you a year.
You apply through the EDISU portal, not through Politecnico, and you can apply before your enrolment is finalised.
What the scholarship is worth
A single application is assessed for all of it:
- A cash grant, paid in instalments across the year. The amount depends on your income bracket and on whether you live at home, commute, or have moved to Turin — students who relocate receive the most.
- A bed in an EDISU residence at a heavily subsidised rate. There are now over 3,100 beds, roughly 500 of them added recently through PNRR funding.
- Meals in the EDISU canteens.
- Winners are generally also exempt from Politecnico tuition fees — check the current PoliTo fee regulations for how the two interact.
Amounts are adjusted annually to inflation; the 2026/27 notice raised them by 1.4%.
The part that catches international students out: ISEE Parificato
Eligibility is means-tested on ISEE, an Italian household-income indicator. If your family’s income was earned outside Italy, you cannot use the ordinary ISEE — you need an ISEE Parificato, calculated from your home-country documents.
This takes weeks, not days:
- Get your family’s income and property documents from home.
- Have them translated into Italian and legalised — usually by the Italian Embassy or Consulate in your country, or with an apostille.
- Take them to a CAF (a licensed tax-assistance centre) in Italy, which produces the ISEE Parificato.
Start this before you fly. Requesting consular legalisation once you are already in Italy is slow and sometimes impossible before the deadline.
The canteens — worth it even without a scholarship
EDISU canteens are open to all Piedmont university students at subsidised prices, with the rate you pay set by your ISEE bracket. A full meal costs a few euros — reliably cheaper than cooking for one. Sites sit near the main campus and around the city; the current list and opening hours are on the EDISU website.

Applying — practical notes
- You will need your Codice Fiscale and SPID or CIE digital identity to use the portal. SPID can itself take a week or two to obtain, so do it early.
- Rankings are published provisionally first, with a window to appeal errors. Check the provisional list — a missing document is usually fixable at that stage.
- An EDISU bed is not the same application as the private housing market. Apply for both; you can decline the one you do not need.
